why rain droplets are spherical in shape ?

Everyone likes to enjoy rain but anyone ever noticed the shape of rain drops? Is it spherical? If yes, than why it is spherical in shape?

Yes, rain droplets are spherical in shape. The reason behind this is surface tension. Now, here it comes a new term surface tension. What is it?

Surface Tension is the force which tends to minimize the surface area. This will give the answer why rain droplets are spherical?

A rain droplet obtains a spherical shape due to phenomenon of surface tension. Since sphere is geometrical shape which has minimum surface area in contact. This surface tension causes the molecules to stick together. The cause of surface tension is weak hydrogen bonds which occur between water molecules. That’s why rain droplets obtain spherical shape.
